Then, think about a situation you had to adapt to and write a short paragraph explaining what it was, and if you managed to get used to it. 1. You are going to listen to two weather presenters/ meteorologists reporting the weather forecast. Note down as many words as you can remember that are used to describe weather conditions.
2. Listen again.
3. Listen to the weather forecast with subtitles.
4. Write any new words you have learnt after listening to the videos.
5. Describe the weather forecast for your area.
Descriptive writing is characterized as containing sentences with more than one adjective. When this occurs in English, adjectives are placed before the noun they qualify and follow a specific order which is determined by the adjective and its use. We might use an adjective to talk about shapes, colours, origin, etc.

ADVANCED POINTS- SPOKEN LANGUAGE AND THE USE OF ADJECTIVES
When speaking we try not to put too many adjectives in front of the noun. How do we avoid doing this?
By adding phrases beginning withand, with or in or adding a relative clause.
Have a look at these examples:
1. rather stupid-looking, clumsy birds with blue feet and long necks. 2. Charming, rustic cottages in stone. In = de 3. delicious Thai curries, ( which were)made of fish and coconut.
Watch this BBC documentary and answer these questions:
1. What is Karoline like before the makeover?
2. What is she obsessed with?
3. What does she think about the elderly ?
4. Watch the video from minute 6:20 to 7:00. What are her workmate's habits to keep in shape and stay healthy?
5. What do you think she learnt about what old age is really like?
