A1-FILE 3- Writing Keys- page 37 New English File

Hi!
Below are the keys to the activities on page 37 and the explanation on the uses of connectors and sequencers.

Writing a magazine article using connectors and sequencers.

Exercise a. This is the correct order of paragraphs: 3   1   4   2
Exercise b. 
Connectors
1  and   2 but    3 because    4 or    5 or

Sequencers
6 Then    7 After   8 before

Exercise c. 
1 or   2 but   3 After   4 or   5 then   6 and    7 because

GRAMMAR EXPLANATION OF CONNECTORS AND SEQUENCERS.
AND, BUT, OR
-and is used to join two similar ideas: I like tea or coffee.
-but is used to contrast two ideas: I like coffee, but not tea.
-or is used in two ways: 
   1. To join to alternative ideas: I don't like tea or coffee.
   2. To express two possible ideas: You can have tea or coffee.

THEN

  • Then is used with a verb phrase. It can go at the beginning or in the middle of a sentence. 
    • Example: 
      • I have a bath. Then I go to bed.
      •  I have a bad and then I go to bed.
  • After that is an alternative to then.

AFTER /BEFORE are prepositions and opposites.

  • They are used with a noun or a verb phrase.
    • Example: 
      • I always have a cup of tea after lunch.
      • I always have a cup of tea after I have lunch.

En inglés los nombres se clasifican en : contables e incontables.
Los nombres contables son una unidad que se puede contabilizar. Normalmente se pueden poner en plural. Ejemplo: a car (sg) / two cars ( pl) 
Los nombres incontables pertenecen a un grupo, masa o nombre colectivo. No se pueden contar porque son demasiado pequeños y pertenecen a la categoría de: líquidos, partículas, gases, un concepto o actividad. Ejemplo: money ---has no plural form= a lot of money, some money.
