B2 ( STRATEGIES): HOW TO BEAT STAGE FRIGHT

How to overcome stage freight. Everybody can!

 Here's a video of Joe Kowan, a man who overcame stage freight. Listen to this humourous talk about this topic and answer these questions:

Listen once without subtitles and answer these questions:

1. Make a list of the way he feels every time he goes on stage. (adjectives).
2. How does the body react when people feel nervous before speaking? Name vocabulary related to  our body.

Listen again to the whole talk ( with or without subtitles) and answer this question:

1. How did he overcome stage freight? Write down a list of the most important ideas, that is, a summary with short phrases that give answers to this question.

B2.1 ( VOCABULARY KEYS): I CAN EXPLAIN SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES

Exercise 1.
1.in comparison, 2. apart from, 3. alike, 4. main, 5. compared
Exercise 2.
1 similar; 2 compared; 3 similarly; 4 except; 5 greedy; 6 alike, completely; 7 apart; 8 difference

Exercise 3. Write a similar text comparing two towns in Málaga.

Example:
COMPARING OXFORD AND CAMBRIDGE.
Text sample:
Oxford and Cambridge are alike in many ways. They both have ( famous universities and many beautiful old buildings)
Another similarity is that it takes..........to get to.......on the train/bus
However, apart from ------, there is one main difference.
Compared with ( + city: e.g.: Cambridge), Oxford is very + adjective ( for example: cosmopolitan).

Compare this: being self-employed and working for a company.
