B1 Intermediate listening practice: YOUNG PEOPLE LIVING WITH THEIR PARENTS

Think about this: What age were you when you left home?
 Listen to this 6 minute podcast about young people who are still living with their parents in the UK  and answer these questions. Bring your answers to class:  LISTEN TO THE AUDIO HERE.

 2. Answer this question:  According to the National Statistics in 2013 what percentage of 20-24 year-olds were living at home in the UK with their parents? 
3. Write down the reasons Why still young people in the UK live with their parents. Write notes ( key words and short phrases).Answer example: economic conditions, a lot of people will have to move.
4. Listen to minute 2:13 onwards and answer the question:  Why has there been an increase in the number of young people living with their parents for longer? 
5. Listen to minute 2:30 roughly: According to Luke, what's it like to be 27 and still live with one's parents? What's the biggest difficulty for him?
6. Listen to minute 4 onwards: Name 2 advantages of living with parents.

REFLECT UPON THIS:
1. Do you find any similarities between the situation of young people in the UK and Spain? 
2. Compare the speakers' opinions ( Luke's and Alberto's views) on the topic. How do they feel about this topic?
