As you may already know Shipwrecked is a UK reality TV programme from channel 4.
Your task will consist in reading the participants' profiles and making a selection of the 3 best candidates/ winners. Then justify your opinion to your classmates ( by using the vocabulary on your textbooks, page 70, 71). Post your comments on the blog ( 100 words max). Deadline 3rd May.

SHIPWRECKED CANDIDATES BEST SELECTION
Personally, I think we should give the audience what they want. I’m in favour of selecting candidates who will be able to provoke problematic situations in the island. For that reason I’m in favour of choosing these three contestants: Hollie Tu, Mackenzie Hunkin and Danny Balshaw.
I think Hollie Tu might have difficulty doing physical tests. Brain and body would be an interesting combination.
Mackenzie Hunkin could cause problems. He’s the typical male sure of himself and bound to be unfaithful to his girlfriend with some woman in the island.
An important point in Danny’s favour is that he is a good person and he would get on very well with the rest of contestants. He could be a great conflicts mediator.
I hope this combination works.

SELECTION OF THE 3 BEST CANDIDATES
Criteria followed for selection have been in order to get the best audience rating, in other words, love, fight, sex, etc.
Personally, I think that Kevin, Geri and Mariel would be an interesting combination. First, Kevin has only been out of the UK five days, therefore he hasn't got a clue about how tough life on island will be. Second, Geri is a professional dancer and I think she might not have difficulty fitting in with the rest of the group. Finally, Mariel is a Philosopher and an important point in her favour is the fact that she is humorous and supportive, although she moans a lot as well.
To sum up, what I want to avoid is a happy island without conflicts. People like watching other people's problem.
Personally, I did not find it difficult to decide the winners. Although, there were lots of participants, in my opinion, a small minority of them would be able to survive in primitive conditions during a year at all. Therefore, the selected are: Soodi Asefi, Matt Agass and Francesca Willson.
SOODI ASEFI
She seems very commitment and supportive but will not abide by the rules easily, because she does not like hierarchies. Furthermore, she is chatty so she will get on well with other people making interesting interactions.
MATT AGASS
He is attractive and sympathetic and might fit in very well with the rest of the group, especially with women due to the fact that he likes to chat up them. An important point is that he is a sucker for cooking which will fancy women even more. Therefore, he has an interesting combination.
FRANCESCA WILLSON
I feel strongly that Franki is very driven without having overbearing attitude because she is bright and breezy. Also, she will have the ability to work in a team and, at the same time, she could create a bit of drama because of her loving of adventure. One final point is that she is thick-skinned avoiding causing problems. She gives me good vibes.
I feel very strongly that the winner should be chosen between these three people:
- Mackenzie Hunkin
- Mark Byron
- Liam Byrne
Mackenzie. An important point in his favour is that he’s an alpha male and likes to think of himself as a natural leader. He looks like charming and supportive. He thinks of staying faithful on the island, this can be very attractive for women audience.
Mark Byron. One thing which concerns me is that he's a hard man to ignore. He’ll be trying to use his driven personality and his sense of humour to get people on his side; he may not realize what he’s let himself in for, on account of this he can win.
Liam Byrne. He has an overbearing attitude but he is very well prepared physically moreover he is popular with the ladies; this would be an interesting combination to win.
THE THREE BEST CANDIDATES
Personally, I think the three best candidates are Francesca Wilson, Andrew Dearling and Hermione Rusell.
The first one would get on very well with the rest of the group because she is not a fan of confrontation so she wouldn't cause problems and she could calm down difficult situations.
The second one is a man who is used to dealing with people. In fact he tends to wind them up. Therefore he might fit in very well with the group.
And the last choice is Hermione Rusell because she is sporty and competitive. We can not forget that it is a competition.
On the other hand people can be reflected on her because of her traditional ideas of male and female. So it is an important point in her favour even though I think she might have difficulty with her behaviour.
We'll have to watch the series so as to know the winner.
The most important thing for TV channels is their audience ratings so that the three best candidates are Danny Balshaw, Nadejah Williams and Gregory Jones.
Danny can be a great candidate because is humorous and supportive, and is different to other male candidates because he isn´t attractive and handsome but he has other interesting qualities. In my opinion he will try to end the quarrels in the group.
Nadejah Williams can be a good candidate because she could provoke conflicts in the group, due to her contradictory feelings. She will have staying power but she is going to miss her mummy.
Gregory Jones is the typical attractive male and he is going to be a charming womanizer so that he might be the hot favourite.
Personally, I think the three best candidates are Silkie Carlo, Liran Nathan and Stacey Mason.
As far as Silkie is concerned, I like her because she describes herself as a vegetarian anarchist. Since she has these strong beliefs I guess she´s driven and strong-willed. However she might be stubborn as well, so I think she will moan a lot if she had to do thinks she didn´t like.
I feel very strongly that Liran is a good candidate because he´s a total cleanliness obsessive. It would be interesting to watch if such a neat person fit in with the rest of the group. Moreover, we don´t how he would react if the other participants left their stuff all over the place.
Finally, I´m in favour of including Stacey among the three best candidates because she doesn't like to get bossed around. I imagine she´s pretty self-assured and might has an overbearing attitude, therefore I suppose she would start pushing everyone around if she became the leader.
Personally, I think that the best three candidates are: Geri Masucci, Soodi Asafi and Andrew Dearling.
I’m in favour of Geri Massucci because she is fun, excitable and caring. In my opinion she deserves to stay amongst the best contestants. An important point in her favour is her fitness because she is a proffesonal dancer.
I feel very strongly that Soodi Assafi is one of the best on account of being confident and having a strong personality.
In my view, Andrew Dearling should be a candidate owing to having a tendency to wind people up.
Audience wants to watch a pleasing programm where people could connect with contestants to being hooked on Shipwrecked.
